snow, yum!

Run, Lala, Run!

Thanks, Loek, for letting me borrow your sled!

Out on Hupi Road, before the snow melted.

Don't I look cute in my snow suit?

Yum! Snow!  Allie liked eating the snow so much, that at one point she took a header into an icy snow bank, split her lip and scraped her cheek, but did not complain!  No, it was fine, she got a mouthful of snow!

Mmmm, more snow!

Back in the sled, eating the snow off her mittens.

Daddy pulled the sled too!  But he was busy taking most of the pictures.

Thanksgiving Trip to the Zoo

Did you know that the zoo is open 365 days a year?  That means that you can go any day, including Thanksgiving!  And thanks to Tamar, we can go for free!  Yay!

Lots of fish.

Lots of cockroaches.  Ew.

Daddy and Allie on the merry-go-round.  Yes, that is a praying mantis she's riding.

Our cutie!

Ooh!  The tiger is close!

To be continued...

Yep, I'm a loser.  I haven't posted any adventures for quite some time.  And I know I owe you birthday pictures.  But I'm currently writing my thesis so you will have to be patient.

Allie at the Bronx Zoo

We took Allie to the Zoo yesterday afternoon, and she did really well considering she had only about a 3 minute afternoon nap.  All the animals were exciting enough to keep her awake, I guess.  The highlight of the trip was the Children's Zoo, which I have to admit, was way cool.  It was one of the few places totally stroller friendly, but we actually had Allie out of the stroller most of the time.  She saw the world from a gopher's point of view, climbed through a log like a weasel, said hello to a GIANT catfish (it was bigger than she!) and fed the goats with Daddy.  Obviously it was a tiring day - she slept until 8 this morning!!!  I confess, I did too.

Allie's First Trip to the DZ

Allie got to see Uncle Cam this weekend!!!  First time since Thanksgiving.  A lot has changed.  Allie has teeth!  Heh.  We also got to meet Cam's gf, Mandy.  Allie liked her sunglasses.  It was also the first time Allie saw a dunk tank or skydiving (a family business).  Old Timer was doing tandems all day, and Uncle Cam did a hop-and-pop so that he could scare Granny by swooping.  How mean!

Allie dips her feet in the ocean!

We all got together to celebrate my birthday and Uncle Doug's birthday last weekend (er, the one before Labor Day Weekend - I'll post that next). Since it was partly my birthday celebration, I decided to corral everyone to the beach in the evening for some pictures. They turned out really well, don't you think?

BTW, Allie says that jellyfish taste sandy and salty, and she doesn't like them. The first set of pictures is Allie tattling on me, telling Daddy that I fed it to her. I didn't! She stole it from my hand when I wasn't looking. oops. :-)

I have lots more pictures of everybody, but since these are Allie's Adventures, you'll have to email me if you want the link to the entire album.  Cheers!

Brunch with Anjali and Ojas

Last Sunday we went into the city for brunch with Anjali, a friend of mine from high school, and her bf, Ojas.  Anjali graduated from medical school and is about to start her 2nd year of residency.  I'm jealous!  Well, not of her hours.  Anyway, it was the first time Allie got to meet Anjali and Ojas, and everyone seemed to get along fine.  Doesn't Ojas look swell in a bib?

Allie goes hiking! Or for a long, flat walk.

Matt and I took Allie up to Rockefeller State Park on Saturday, where we hiked around admiring the trees and the wildlife.  Ok, it wasn't really hiking (hiking implies some sort of elevation - there wasn't a lot), but it was a walk through the woods where we saw wild turkeys (those suckers are big!), deer, a hawk, and a lot of squirrels and chipmunks.  Oh, and we saw a family of ducks - a mom with a flock of adolescents.   Made me very happy that humans don't usually have more than one or two kids at a time as the "ducklings" were quite noisy and obnoxious teenagers.  Anyway, the paths there are all tamped down gravel, so in theory you could wander the woods with a stroller.  We chose to use our new backpack!  Since we didn't actually drag out the camera while we were there, I stole the above image from some stranger's flickr file, but you can see what most of the place looks like.  Matt did take out the video camera, but I haven't figured out how to put the movies on my computer yet.  One day soon you'll be able to see the turkeys cross the road (er, path) and Allie in her backpack.  Two hours in it, and no complaints!  Remind me to take a picture of her in it.

Trip to the County Fair

Allie went with her cousin Brandon, her Uncles Doug and Andrew, and her Aunts Oxy and Beth to the Wayne county fair last weekend.  Overall it was an enjoyable experience - she went to the rodeo, tried a bite of funnel cake (yum!), met some sheep, pigs and chickens, and took her first ride on a ferris wheel.  They wouldn't let her ride on a horse the whole time, but we snuck her on at the end for a quick picture.

Back at the house, there was a fish on the wall that sang "Don't worry, be happy" which both Brandon and Allie appreciated.  Brandon also got his chance to try out Allie's backpack.  I think he liked it!

First 4th of July

For Allie's 1st 4th of July, we went up to Hawley, Pennsylvania, where Matt's family has a cabin of sorts, with Doug and Oxy.  We played mini golf, where Allie was a trooper until the very end.  The picture is of Allie watching us play (er, or playing in the dirt - your choice).

For fireworks, we went out on the boat in Lake Wallenpaupack.  Matt & Doug jumped in for a swim, and Allie enjoyed the boat ride.  She fell asleep about 5 minutes into the fireworks display.  Oh well.

Creativity

Allie showed her first sign of creativity tonight.  She painted with her raspberries!  Watch!  (sorry about the sound)

Such deliberation!  Such concentration! Such a mess!

This is what she looked like when she was done:

Needless to say, I had the bathwater running by this point.  But she was so proud of herself!!! So I had to share.

Allie has started rolling over and rearranging herself in her crib.  I put her down somewhere in the center, and when I go to check on her (or when I go in b/c she's woken up), I find her in the oddest positions and usually nowhere near the middle of the crib.
The photo is from 2 nights ago - she fell asleep on her belly, with her arm wrapped around Phoebe.  So cute!

Update - I'm adding a video of Allie from February, when she fell asleep in the meadow playing with a stuffed tomato.  For your enjoyment:
