easter

Aunt Beth has most of the Easter pictures (including the Easter egg hunt) but I had one cute one that I wanted to share.  The dress was once mine!

trip to the beach

One of Matt's favorite places is the beach, so we try to go when we get a sunny weekend.  The weekend started off sunny...  heh.  But it was cloudy and windy by the time we got to the water.  That's ok, Matt and Allie were happy to contemplate the ocean regardless.

Allie left her mark, however temporary, in the sand.

trip to meet Caper

From Pennsylvania, we drove up to the Berkshires to visit Lala and Oldtimer, and to meet their new dog, Caper.  Allie was happy to lounge on the porch in the sunshine.

Caper liked Allie!  She kept brining her presents.

Lala had the swing hung up in the apple tree.  Allie was very excited, as her favorite thing in the world to do is "swhim".

Happy baby!

PENNSYLVANIA

After our trip to New England, Daddy had time off too!  So we took a drive up to the vacation house in Hawley, PA.  Allie learned how to blow bubbles on this trip.

Though I think she ended up eating some too.  Oops!

Allie found Daddy's sunglasses and decided to try them on.  We decided they looked just as goofy on Daddy.

Yay! Pennsylvania is fun!

visit with loek and ari

After visiting Becca in Boston, we traveled down to Cape Cod, to visit Kate and her family.  Allie and Loek had lots of fun playing.  Here, Loek is showing her how to play in the dog's house.

We went to the playground one morning.  Since there wasn't much Ari could do other than swing (which he did a lot of!) he spent some time sitting around, contemplating life.

Until he found that he could crawl through the tunnel.

When it was time to go, Loek was very gracious and walked Allie to the car.  How sweet!

We hope to get back there soon!!   Do you have room for all of us, Kate?

Visiting Becca and the New England Aquarium

Sorry this has taken so long to post - I've been very busy!  But way back when, between my OB and Peds rotations, I took a trip up to Boston with Allie to visit Becca.  Of all the places we could go, Becca decided she wanted to take Allie to the Boston Aquarium.  So we took Allie on her first subway ride (on the T) from Cambridge to Boston, down to the wharf.  Somewhere I have a picture of Allie sleeping on the T... maybe on my phone?  Anyway, Allie missed the subway ride there, but really had fun on the way back - especially when the T crosses the river at Charles St.  Underground - aboveground - underground again.  Cool!
Becca and Allie were both pleased with the aquarium idea.  (Hi Becca! You two match!)
The jellyfish exhibit was very mesmerizing.  You could watch these guys swim in circles all day!
We also really liked the GIANT tank in the middle - you could examine it from all angles and from different depths.  We even got to watch some scuba divers feed the fish!
Hi Turtle!
Hopefully we'll be able to go back to Boston soon.  I miss it there!

Will update soon! I promise!

Sorry I've been a loser about posting.  We have a whole bunch of adventures that need to be posted, but I've been lazy.  All of the pictures are still on the camera.  They haven't even made it to the computer yet!  But soon, I promise.  In the mean time, I put up an oldie but goodie for your viewing pleasure.

the beach

In an effort to get out of the house today, we decided to take a trip to the beach.  Try ourselves a little kite flying and sandcastle building.  It was supposed to be 55 degrees today (a virtual heat wave!) but of course, it stayed cloudy and I would be surprised if it was 45 degrees.  We had fun anyway.  Just getting out of the car, Allie was excited to see all of the sea gulls.  Ooh!

Allie says, "TUBBY!!!" upon first glimpse of the ocean.

ooo!

Look, Mom, sand!

I really don't get the shovel thing.  Why can't I just use my hands?

TUBBY!!!  Daddy won't let me in! Meanie.

Allie was definitely a fan of the beach.  We'll have to go back sometime when we can actually take her into the water, since that was the most exciting part.

trip to the aquarium

We took Allie to the Mystic Aquarium today as something to do to get out of the house.  Its designed in such a way that a lot of the tanks are right at eye level for the little people.  Allie walked into the place, took a look around, and said, "WOW!".  And then took off at a run!

Here, she's investiating the crabs and sea anenomes.  Right at eye level!

It was all so exciting that she just had to sit down and take it all in.  She did learn to say "shish" today!  yeah, we're working on the F's.

Daddy carrying the munchkin as we headed outside to see the penguins, sea lions and beluga whales.  The setup was pretty cool in that the whales are right at eye level for all of us.  The sea lions you could see from inside or outside - they were at eye level inside and outside, we looked down on them.  They also had a crawl-through lobster trap that Allie played in for a while - with lobsters crawling right overhead!

A really ugly fish.  Ew.  It was difficult to get good pics of the fish, but we did get some video.  If I ever figure it out, I'll try and post some of the video too.

Allie on the car ride home.  Soon after, mommy looked like that too.  Heh.

Sunday, March 8, 2009

We went to LaLa and Old Timer's house for the weekend because I was
finally free - OB is over! We intended to come home on Monday, but
then Sunday night/Monday day we had a big ol' snow storm. That was
fine - we got to go sledding! Lala has more pictures which hopefully
I will be able to upload soon, but this will hopefully keep you
temporarily satisfied.

botanical garden pics

We took Allie to the NYBG today to see the train show, but since they're doing timed entrances now, we got there way before we could actually get into the show.  So we took Allie to the Children's Garden, where they were doing a feature on gingerbread.

Allie thought the ginormous gingerbread house was cool.

And so was the maze.   But she got her pants REALLY dirty.

After the maze, she went for a walk in the woods with Daddy.

It was fun!

But before we could get into the train show, she fell asleep in the backpack.  Poor baby, fell asleep with the bottle in her mouth.

I bent my head forward so you could see her - she slept like this for about an hour, so it couldn't have been that uncomfortable.

But she woke up in time to see the trains!  There were lots of historical buildings of NYC made out of things like acorns and tree bark.  Here you have the Chrystler building, the Flatiron building, and others, with the train going by in front.

The trains going over the bridges (the have to-scale replicas of the historical bridges too) were cool!  Allie had fun, which made the ridiculous wait almost worth it!
